Produced by Miramax in 2002, it was nominated for six Academy Awards in 2003 and received two. Starring Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina, Frida opened the Venice Film Festival, was AFI's Movie of the Year, and was named one of the top 10 films of the year by the National Board of Review and numerous critics.
